We all have biases, both conscious and unconscious, many of them imparted to us through our families and communities of origin, as well as through popular culture and media. In this lesson, think about how these biases can affect the ways in which we behave in our school communities. If we are implicitly making judgments about others and acting on those thoughts and ideas, they aren’t harmless. Sometimes just raising our awareness and taking a few seconds to slow down and more carefully process our thinking is enough. But not always.
